NVCA Lion Guard Program - Dads of the Den
What is the “Lion Guard Program?” The Lion Guard Program is NVCA’s educational initiative to support family engagement and encourage fathers and/or father figures to get involved by volunteering on NVCA's campus. The Lion Guard will be an elite group of fathers and/or father figures who are positive role models on campus, volunteering their time to the school and students, promoting education, and being an extra set of eyes and ears on campus to enhance school and campus security.
What are the duties of the Lion Guard?
The hope is that Dads/Father figures of existing NVCA students will volunteer their time on campus for the first half of the school day (generally 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) however, volunteers are welcome to stay for the entire day if available. Simply use the SignUp Genius link to schedule your volunteer day on campus. Upon arrival, you will check-in at the front office, wearing your NVCA Lion Guard swag and receive your gear and schedule of duties. While on site, Lion Guards can expect to patrol the school campus, entrances, hallways, and parking lot, acting as an extra set of eyes and ears on campus. Lion Guard can also expect to be utilized in their students' classroom to help with tasks such as working on flash cards with students, playing at recess, eating lunch with students, assisting with traffic flow, and any other assigned activities where they are actively engaged with not only their own children but other students as well.
What is the uniform?
On the day of their participation, Lion Guards wear an official Lion Guard t-shirt with a lanyard identifying them as an official Lion Guard. Students of the participating Lion Guard will have the opportunity to wear a custom Lion Guard shirt on the same day. Please be sure to purchase Lion Guard shirts prior to your day on campus at the front office. Shirts are $15 each.
How to register to become a member of the Lion Guard?
Becoming a member of the Lion Guard requires (1) Registering, (2) completing a background check, and (3) purchasing an official Lion Guard uniform t-shirt.
STEP 2: BACKGROUND CHECK APPLICATION
The final step is to schedule your day on campus. You are only allowed to schedule your day once you (1) can confirm your background check has been completed or (2) you have physically delivered your background check to Wendy at the front office.
